It is divided into three divisions: Business Services. Educational Services and Human Resources. An Associate Superintendent oversees each division and a variety of programs. such as Child Development. Child Welfare & Attendance, Special Education. Nutrition Services and Transportation.

Custom Job Purpose

Under general direction, provide an instructional program that is fully integrated into the school's curriculum and is central to the learning process.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Structure a physical classroom environment conducive to learning.

  • Establish efficient classroom management procedures.

  • Establish and maintain expected standards of student behavior with administrative support.

  • Establish a system of student evaluation within the guidelines prescribed in State law or adopted by the District.

  • Continually evaluate and record various aspects of students' progress and report to parents as needed and required.

  • Teach within the course of study for subject area or at grade level as prescribed in Statc law or adopted by the District. 

  • Plan and implement standards-based lessons.

  • Provide planned learning experiences using a variety of instructional methods and strategics in order to motivate students.

  • Identify students' needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and assisting students.

  • Provide varied instruction as appropriate in order to attempt to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students. 

  • Perform basic attendance accounting tasks as required.

  • Observe professional working hours as designated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

  • Attend school and District meetings as designated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

  • Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities as required by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. 

  • Perform adjunct duties as designated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. 

  • Share the responsibility of communicating the educational program to the community through such activities as open house and back-to-school nights.

  • Seek to improve competency by periodically participating in professional growth activities.

  • ​Provide emergency lesson plans for substitutes. 19. Plan and coordinate the work of aides and other paraprofcssionals and student teachers (when applicable). 

Qualifications

Knowledge/Ability

Minimum Requirements

  • Knowledge of principles, theories, practices, mcthods and techniques uscd in curriculum development and classroom instruction. 

  • Knowledge of classroom procedures which promote appropriate student conduct and motivation for student learning

  • Knowledge of applicable sections of the State Education Code and other applicable laws.

  • Ability to adapt plans to meet different needs of students.

  • Ability to create an instructional program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth.

  • Ability to establish effective rapport with students.

  • Ability to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for education, in accordance with each student's ability. 

  • Ability to monitor students in classrooms.

  • Ability to display the use of good judgment in making decisions. Ability to maintain professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues and supervising staff members.

  • Ability to effectively communicate and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
